I'd much rather fly.
Tomorrow, white water is gonna get fkd.
And there will be footage to prove it.

Tennessee
Tomorrow morning, I leave for the weekend.
I'll be in Tennessee spending time with my relatives in Murfreesboro.
Tennessee feels more "southern" than Florida, regardless of geography.
Either way, I'm excited to capture some new unfamiliar imagery via Instagram.
This is gonna be a heavy Instagram weekend, so keep your eyes peeled.

J. Nolan
I've been taking a 3D design class with Professor Jesse Nolan.
This is the work I've completed in the past couple weeks.
I don't want to completely trash his teaching style, but he is the least effective art instructor I have ever had in my 10+ years of art training. (I won't say the worst, cause he's a genuinely nice guy and doesn't deserve to be bashed.)
Professor Jesse Nolan is an easy-A arts and crafts teacher.

- He talks [way] too much. (My iPod keeps me from getting hostile.)
- He pretentiously talks too much about his own art.
- He makes awkward jokes and remarks, when students are busy working on their pieces.
- He does this thing when critiquing, where he makes less critical remarks about a student with a lesser successful work, and has more to criticize about students with strong pieces and works.
- And he always suggests students to finish work quickly. (I hate being rushed. Quantity over quality hardly applies to any situation, why should my artwork be any different?)
...I can't wait to get to my fall classes.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Back in the heydays of this blog, I was hyping (500) Days Of Summer.
Since the very first trailer I saw of it, I knew it would be a breath of fresh air.
My "(500) Days" post even got the attention of Director Marc Webb.
[One of the crowning achievements of this blog. Lol]

[Two years have lapsed.]
Marc's new second project happens to be the greatly anticipated reboot/re-visioning of the Spider-Man franchise, The Amazing Spider-Man.
When I initially heard that Webb got hired for the job, I was a little (neutrally) intrigued.
I wasn't so quick to say it was a great hire for the franchise, but at the same time I knew that Webb's interpretation would definitely be a more character-driven film with personality and style that the Raimi big box office films just didn't aim to have.
Pure action movies don't normally appeal to me.
And based on (500), I could tell that Webb has something to say beyond explosions and SFX.
So for me, I couldn't be more excited.
And Eduardo Saverin as Peter Parker! I'm hella down for that.
But seriously, Andrew Garfield is an actor who's ready to be a household name.
I just saw the trailer, and so far it's meeting all my expectations and some.
I'm really excited for a fresh take on an iconic story-line.
Just hoping The Amazing Spider-Man can feed my 3D fix.

I hate viral video TV shows...
Like Tosh.0, Web Soup, and maybe even Ridiculousness (MTV is always years behind great ideas).
They all have a common formula.
1. Play an already classic viral video (usually involving pain).
2. Then make a response to it. "The Punchline".
And then, on to the next joke.
You can't particularly hate the formula, because it just works.
But I am allowed to tastefully disagree with the predictability and uninspired delivery that these shows are known for.
[Enter VIRAL VIDEO FILM SCHOOL.]
The formula still exists. But the concept of each [short] episode keeps you guessing.
The dry, witty, playful banter of Brett Erlich is a breath of fresh air compared to all the rest.
And the joke delivery isn't in some standard one-by-one fashion; the jokes are done to facilitate one bigger picture.
And there's equally as much nut-busting humor as the rest.
I've been a fan for entirely too long now, and I'm happy to see that VVFS is still developing creative material with something that we are all so familiar with.
Go ahead and keep on watching the other viral shows, if that's what you're in to.
It's probably better this way, because VIRAL VIDEO FILM SCHOOL is meant for smarter people.
Get educated.

keeping organized.
Not drinking as much.
Staying productive.
Keeping organized.
I don't particularly feel obliged to act maturely at 22. It's actually starting to feel a bit second nature to me.
Projects in/out of schoolwork are keeping me constantly moving.
And I've been catching up with sleep too.
Since my 22nd, I've been getting to sleep before 2am.
My body will thank me soon enough.
------------------------------
And work...
Work's been gravy.
I'm starting to feel comfortable with my partners.
Another month under my feet, and I should feel like a seasoned fixture of the San Jose Starbucks staff.
Everything is starting to feel according to pace.
------------------------------
Well... except for being out of shape.
That needs to change.
Listening to:
Hardwell On Air 18 & 19
Afrojack - Live From Sensation White 2011
& The Streets Discography (I've finally grown to appreciate Computers & Blues.)

I'm baaack.
The timeliness is important to the reason why I find myself back to the blog.
Failure is frustrating. Inconsistency is failure (in my opinion).
I really take this blog just as serious as any artwork I've ever done.
And it pains me to start a project and never finish it.
[like an owl] is a never-ending art project.
Thus, I'm hopefully back for sure.
Who knows, though?
[I have a lot of projects/ideas on my plate.]
------------------------------
Oh, yesterday was my birthday.
It ranks pretty high up there on past birthdays.
Maybe number 3 or 4.
[My 20th being the best birthday, bar none]
Yesterday was my first attempt at civilized, mature fun.
I never thought I'd say it, but you can't party hard forever.
When I was 18, I projected that I'd be burnt out of the party scene when I turned 22 to 23.
I couldn't have been more spot on.
Last night was my way of finally capping off on the "reckless" chapter of my life.
(Chapter 6, I believe. I'll check later.)
At the beginning of 2011, I moved out.
Since then, I also began exceeding my own expectations with school and art.
A month ago, I started my new job at Starbucks.
And yesterday, I threw one of the last truely classic Matt Obrero social events.
[In classic narcissistic fashion.]
------------------------------
But to conclude, as previously mentioned on Facebook, I would like to say thanks to all the people that have gotten me to where I am at this very moment. All the friends that I have had to share all these long nights and blurry distant memories, whether sober or not. Most of them have come and gone away to college. But it is these occasions, like birthdays, that bring them right back in as if time never lapsed.
